Portrait – Noble Bandit
Who is Noble Bandit? S. L. Newman, popularly known as Noble Bandit, has been written poetry professionally for more than a year now and has inspired one and all.
She wrote her first poem at the age of fourteen and her perspective is derives from her own vital experiences.
There is no doubt that S. L. Newman presents bold ideas and taboo subjects. Sometimes she writes on controversial subjects that make people uncomfortable, and she’s fine with that. More often people are responding and listening, though.
She would like to begin speaking publicly on her works. Powerful though S. L. Newman’s poetry may be when read, it will pale in comparison to the force of her spoken word, I predict.
She is somewhat a solitary person and writes her poetry in isolation. She states she has lived in great loneliness at different stages of her life.
That’s why she travels from North to South, from the chill to the sunshine every year in search of poetry, love and friendship.
Noble Bandit’s most striking characteristic is her depth and precision of personal expression. Her ability to fluidly summon up whatever poetical thought fits the moment.
She describes her collections as a project inspired and begun two years ago, during a time when she was literally immersed in an Albanian culture; sleeping on an air mattress above a restaurant owned by a family from the Balkan Peninsula. Hence, her pen-name, Noble Bandit.
Put simply, S. L. Newman’s work inspires the desire to be a better thinker and a better person. That alone will be worth clearing a calendar to see.
